Where do I begin?

A great way to track your research progress and to ensure you produce a quality product is to follow the Big6 model.  Read and print this handout for help along your journey.  Then, print this Big6 Writing Process Organizer.  Begin by filling out the section labeled Task Definition.  As you research, continue making notes on this organizer to be sure you are on the right page -- figuratively and literally!

Task Definition

Before choosing a topic, you must consider your purpose and what information is needed to fulfill your purpose.  You should not choose a topic so broad that you cannot adequately cover it with a research paper; at the same time, you should not choose a topic so specific and detailed that finding sources will be a challenge.
